Rock Crevice Gardens

Rock crevice gardens are architecturally striking, and the growing environment allows for a more varied plant palette than a typical garden bed. Phillipe Chadwick gets inspiration from the garden designer / plantsman who created these long stacked stone walls featuring a crevice garden, and circular rock beds that add an even greater interest to a beautiful mixed garden bed with 4 seasons of interest.

Nasella tenuissima (Mexican feather grass) reaches 18 - 24" tall and wide, is drought-tolerant, performs in full sun to part shade, and is perennial in USDA zones 7-10.
Araucaria Araucana (monkey puzzle tree, monkey tail tree) requires frequent watering until established, and good-draining soil.

Phillipe Chadwick

Phillipe Chadwick received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University in 2006. He has worked as a Landscape Architect and managed civic designs for the city of Franklin, TN. He also designed and installed annual and perennial gardens at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. He currently owns his own landscape maintenance and floral design company.
