The correct pronunciation is DOLL-ee-uh as the plant was named in honor of Swedish botanist Anders Dahl.
When planting a number of dahlias, allow each tuber about 2 feet of space.
The American Dahlia Society publishes an annual Fabulous Fifty list of cultivars receiving (at least) 50 blue and higher awards in sanctioned ADS dahlia shows in the U.S. and Canada. Visit dahlia.org.

Phillipe Chadwick

Phillipe Chadwick received a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University in 2006. He has worked as a Landscape Architect and managed civic designs for the city of Franklin, TN. He also designed and installed annual and perennial gardens at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. He currently owns his own landscape maintenance and floral design company.
