  1. The white Phalaenopsis orchid will typically bloom about once a year for up to 3 months.
  2. The orchid family has more than 880 different types and over 22,000 species. Most orchids are tropical plants which live as epiphytes or 'air plants' hanging on to trees for support.
  3. The most common threat to an orchid is over-watering.
  4. Tom advises not to use ice cubes to water orchids. Instead, put the ice cubes in a cup to melt, and then use that to water the orchid the following day
