Boxwood Cloud Pruning

Late February is the ideal time to prune boxwood. Annette Shrader learns the Must Do’s to keep them healthy and thriving for decades.

Gardener Extras

  1. Early spring, before boxwood begin to flush, is the ideal time to prune boxwood.
  2. Boxwood blight doesn't directly affect the plant's roots, so plants can recover. But boxwood blight weakens plants and leaves them susceptible to other pests and diseases. It is these secondary infestations and infections that usually kills the plant.
  3. Volutella, colloquially known as boxwood canker, is widespread. The spores drift in the wind.
