Green Roof: Music City Center

Nashville TN has the largest green roof in the Southeast U.S. It’s atop the Music City Center and features 4 acres of sedum plants, plus beehives. Troy Marden takes us 100 feet up for a tour.

Gardener Extras

  1. MCC employees volunteer to assist with beekeeping duties. The majority are the kitchen staff.
  2. Bees forage for nectar and bring it to the hive, depositing it into cells. This nectar is then passed between mouths of bees and fanned by their wings to reduce the water content. When the water content is low enough that honey will not spoil. The full cell of honey is capped with a waxy substance.
