Tranquility Garden

Tammy Algood is at the UT Gardens in Knoxville to enjoy the Tranquility Garden featuring more than 500 varieties of hosta. Good garden design is on display here as other shade loving plants are combined with the hosta throughout the garden which makes each plant noticeable.

The foundation of this hosta garden collection is from hosta aficionado Cornelia Holland of Franklin, TN. More than 500 varieties of hosta were dug, divided, and then transplanted into this UT garden in 2013.

Tammy Algood

Tammy Algood — Tammy has loved to garden and cook her whole life. She wanted to spend as much time as possible with her Grandmother who gardened and cooked, so she learned at her knee. Tammy is a marketing specialist with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. She has written numerous cookbooks, including Farm Fresh Southern Cooking and The Southern Slow Cooker Bible. “Being a host on Volunteer Gardener allows me to meld both of my passions into one activity…cooking from my garden.”
